Configure and monitor your live broadcast stream
Learn how to prepare server details, create an encoder row, select MP3, AAC, AAC+ or Opus, connect to Icecast or SHOUTcast and troubleshoot common connection and audio problems.
Understand the streaming panel
Each TeoCast stream row contains its own server settings, format, bitrate, connection control, status display and audio meter.
Name
A clear label that identifies the destination, such as Main Icecast, Backup Stream or SHOUTcast Server.
Format
Selects the encoded audio format sent to the streaming server.
Bitrate
Controls the stream data rate and affects audio quality and bandwidth usage.
Server
Identifies the server type and connection destination.
Mount / Path
Specifies the stream destination required by the hosting provider.
Status and meters
Shows connection progress and visible left/right audio activity for the configured row.
Collect the server details first
Obtain the exact connection information from the streaming host before creating the encoder row.
- Server type: Icecast or SHOUTcast
- Host name or server address
- Source port
- Source password
- Username when required by the provider
- Mount point, stream path or station ID
- Supported audio format and bitrate
- Required connection protocol supplied by the host
Create and configure an encoder row
Add one stream destination at a time and test it before configuring another server.
Open the Stream panel
Use the Stream button in the lower TeoCast toolbar.
Add or select a stream row
Use a descriptive name so the destination is easy to identify.
Select the server type
Choose Icecast, SHOUTcast v1 or SHOUTcast v2 according to the hosting provider.
Enter the connection details
Fill in the host, port, password, mount or path and other required information exactly as supplied.
Select format and bitrate
Use settings supported by both the server and the intended listener players.
Save before connecting
Review every field, then save the row configuration.
Choose the correct format and bitrate
Select a format that matches the server configuration and the devices used by your listeners.
MP3
Widely compatible with browsers, players, mobile devices and many Icecast and SHOUTcast services.
AAC
Provides efficient audio quality, but server and player compatibility should be confirmed before launch.
AAC+
Intended for efficient low-bitrate streaming where the host and listener software support it.
Opus
A modern and efficient format that requires compatible server configuration and listener playback support.
Configure an Icecast destination
Icecast normally requires a host, source port, source password and mount point.
Select Icecast
Choose Icecast as the server type for the current row.
Enter host and port
Use the source connection address supplied by the streaming host.
Enter the source password
Use the source password, not the listener or administration password unless the provider specifically instructs otherwise.
Enter the mount point
Copy the mount exactly as supplied. Icecast mount points commonly begin with a forward slash.
Example: /radio.mp3Match the server format
Confirm that the selected MP3, AAC, AAC+ or Opus format is allowed for that mount.
Configure a SHOUTcast destination
SHOUTcast connection details depend on whether the server uses SHOUTcast v1 or SHOUTcast v2.
Select the correct SHOUTcast version
Match the version shown in the hosting control panel.
Enter the source host and port
Do not assume that the listener port and source port are always the same.
Enter the source password
Copy the source password exactly, including uppercase and lowercase characters.
Enter the required path or station ID
SHOUTcast v2 providers may require a stream ID or path. Use the value shown in the provider instructions.
Confirm format support
Use only a format and bitrate accepted by the SHOUTcast server.
Connect and monitor the stream
Start playback first, confirm audio activity, then connect the configured stream row.
Start a known audio item
Play music and confirm activity on the main Software Output meter.
Connect the selected row
Click Connect once and allow the connection process to finish.
Check the row status
Confirm that the stream changes from connecting to a successful connected state.
Observe the row meter
Check that the left and right meter responds to the current audio.
Test through the public listener link
Open the station stream in a separate player or device and confirm that audio is audible.
Allow for listener delay
Some delay is normal because the encoder, server and listener player may each add buffering.
The encoder row has established a server connection.
TeoCast is attempting to restore a lost connection.
Review credentials, server availability and the displayed status.
Common streaming problems
Use these checks when a stream cannot connect or listeners cannot hear audio.
Authentication failed
Recheck the source password, username and SHOUTcast stream ID. Remove accidental spaces before or after copied values.
Mount or path rejected
Copy the exact mount, path or station ID from the hosting panel. Do not invent a file extension.
Connected but no listener audio
Confirm main playback, Software Output activity, row meter movement and the correct public listener link.
Repeated reconnecting
Check server availability, credentials, upload stability and whether the selected bitrate is sustainable.
Format not accepted
Change to a format and bitrate supported by the provider. MP3 is often the safest compatibility test.
High listener delay
Test another player and compare server buffering settings. Listener delay can vary by server and playback application.
Only one channel is active
Check the original source file, main output meter and audio-device configuration before reconnecting.
Secure connection warning
Use the protocol required by the host and confirm that any server certificate is valid and trusted.
